Update: As of version 1-3-3a, Cygwin-Lite is no longer being updated with newer versions of the Cygwin dll or GNU tools. The Cygwin installer, available at Cgywin.com has changed so that it is very easy to get a minimal environment. If you like Cygwin-Lite I strongly recommend performing a default Cygwin installation, which will give you a very complete UNIX-like environment in (as of this writing) less than 50MB of disk space.
Cygwin-Lite is a UNIX-like command-line environment for Win9x/Me/NT4/2000. It is a subset of the complete Cygwin environment available at no cost from http://www.cygwin.com, which is based on the GNU (Gnu's Not Unix) tools from the Free Software Foundation.
The goal of Cygwin-Lite is to have a useful Cgywin environment that can be installed from a 1.44MB floppy disk. It's a great way to demonstrate or try out Cygwin without a large download.
